In the early 1900’s, you could put anything in a bottle and sell it. Turns out that’s still true today.
In the episode titled “Adam Ruins Malls,” Adam and Emily go on a shopping spree of knowledge. He illustrates that malls were created as tax loopholes for greedy developers and are now crumbling under their own weight, and outlet stores are a scam selling purpose-made, low quality merchandise. Also, Conover shows how nutrient supplements are often dangerously unregulated concoctions of garbage ingredients. Emily bursts Conover’s bubble by showing that nearly all eyeglasses are made by one manufacturer that hugely inflates prices thanks to their monopoly on the industry.
Adam Ruins Everything is hosted by comedian Adam Conover who embarks on a comically inventive yet unrelentingly serious quest to reveal the hidden truths behind everything you know and love. Tackling topics ranging from football and weddings to drugs and prison, he gives you not just fun facts to know and tell your friends, but information that will make you see the world in a whole new way. If knowledge is power, then Adam Conover will have you laughing all the way to the top.
Adam Ruins Everything airs Tuesdays at 10/9 C on truTV.
Adam will also be embarking on a 15-city tour that will feature elements of the recently-announced Adam Ruins Everything Election Special as Adam uses his trademark humor and wit to reveal the hidden truths behind “facts” including breaking down the history of our nation’s election system, dispelling myths about our democracy and diagnosing what makes this election different from any other. Each night will feature never-before-seen material giving audiences a sneak peek at the Election Special before it airs on truTV in October.
