This Week on TV the comedic guests are a bit thin on late night, but that’s not the case when it comes to shows that are returning and premiering. 2 for the former, 6 for the latter.
On Tuesday, Billy on the Street returns for a new season on truTV. The new season will feature guests Jon Hamm, John Oliver, Seth Rogen, Keegan Michael Key, Andy Samberg, Lupita Nyong’o, Aziz Ansari and Jacob Tremblay.
Also on Tuesday, we get the premiere of Sweet/Vicious. Bad things are happening to good people, and Jules and Ophelia want to make some of it right. Check out the premiere.
On Wednesday, Nightcap premieres on POP. This scripted late night TV satire from Chelsea Lately vets Tom Brunelle and Brad Wollack stars Ali Wentworth as a talent booker for a talk show. Expect plenty of celebrities to guest star as themselves, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Paul Rudd, Michael J. Fox, Debra Messing, Whoopi Goldberg, Denis Leary, Andy Cohen, Mark Cuban, Jim Gaffigan, Janeane Garofalo, Jim Norton, and Rosie Perez. The series has already been renewed for a second season.
Also on Wednesday, Thanksgiving, an original comedy co-starring Bridey Elliott alongside her real-life father Chris Elliott (Eagleheart, Schitt’s Creek) premieres on go90. Also joining in on the fun is Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy). The show follows the Morgan Family over the course of a four-hour span during Thanksgiving day. Bethany Hall (30 Rock) and Daniel Powell (co-creator of Inside Amy Schumer) created the series, loosely inspired by Hall’s own family.
Thursday will see the busiest day on TV for comedy. First up, Alan Partridge: Scissored Isle. New one-hour mockumentary special (which already aired in the UK) continues the story of Steve Coogan’s long-running character. Tune in to Netflix to see it.
On Thursday, we also get a second special, this time its Dan Levy: Lion on Seeso. And finally, Lovesick returns. Known as Scrotal Recall during its first season, this British comedy moves to Netflix with a new name for its eight-episode second season. Johnny Flynn stars as a man who, upon finding out he has a sexually transmitted disease, decides to track down each of his many ex-partners to inform them. This High Fidelity-esque premise centers on a different encounter each episode, mostly told through flashback.
On Friday, the much anticipated premiere of Colin Quinn: The New York Story on Netflix.
And finally, on Saturday, the final new episode of Saturday Night Live for the month of November. They are calling upon an alumni to host. Kristen Wiig takes on the duties alongside musical guest The XX.
