Comedy Central drops “Goddamn” and sends “The Comedy Jam” to series

The Comedy Jam

Great news for our pal Josh Adam Meyers because Comedy Central has picked up The Goddamn Comedy Jam to series set to premiere next year.

The show premiered on Comedy Central this past August right after the Roast of Rob Lowe and it proved itself enough to impress the network brass who gave it the greenlight to become a weekly series and run for eight episodes debuting in 2017.

“We have been working under the false impression that what comedians want most is to have television and digital platforms to further their comedy careers,” said Kent Alterman, President, Comedy Central. “It turns out they really just want to be rock stars.”

You will notice that the word, “Goddamn” from The Goddamn Comedy Jam has been removed. While no actual reason for this have been given, we imagine re-naming the show The Comedy Jam is probably a bit easier a sell to more conservative watchers and/or sponsors. The show’s creator, comedian Josh Adam Meyers will still front the backing band as comedians tell jokes and try to sing their hearts out. If we could make one recommendation though, have Meyers actually host the show like he does in its live version rather than run a pass the mic situation between guests.

The Comedy Jam is produced by Ugly Brother Studios and Tenth Planet and executive produced by Josh Adam Meyers, Mike and Tim Duffy and Joel Gallen, who will also direct.
