NASHVILLE, TN: As reported by Deadline, comedian, writer and podcaster Gareth Reynolds has announced the release of his newest comedy special, debuting this month via 800 Pound Gorilla. The special, titled Why Aren’t You Bigger?, will be available exclusively on the stand-up comedy streaming service Gorilla Comedy+ starting October 19, with a YouTube premiere to follow on November 10 at 7 PM CT.
Whether it’s from his hit podcasts The Dollop and We’re Here to Help or his international stand-up comedy tours, Gareth has made a name for himself as a comedic force in the entertainment industry. Filmed at The Den Theater in Chicago, Why Aren’t You Bigger? delivers a fast, funny hour about life in an increasingly automated America. From the robo-takeover of everyday life and the strange demands of an algorithm-driven culture to the healing power of animals and the uphill battle of making a living in modern entertainment, Gareth finds the absurdity in a world that feels less human by the day. He also turns his attention to America’s billionaires, arguing that they are not only wildly powerful and deeply troubling, but embarrassingly lame. Building from sharp observations into a lively finale, the special brings its biggest ideas together in a closing that is equal parts ridiculous, pointed, and unexpectedly catchy, suggesting that the antidote to all of this is the healing power of animals.
Gareth says, “It feels like it’s been a long time since comedy has had a special. I decided it was time for one to be released.”
Gareth is represented by Logan Potter at Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Gersh.
