Aidy Bryant tells Seth Meyers all about how his former writer, Conner O’Malley, proposed

Last night, Senator Bernie Sanders cancelled his Late Night with Seth Meyers appearance, but no worries — Saturday Night Live star Aidy Bryant was on hand to jump in, and she just happened to have an amazing story ready for Seth: the story of how his former writer, the brilliant and insane Conner O’Malley, recently proposed.

Bryant and O’Malley, who have been dating for nine years, moved to New York together from Chicago, back when Bryant got cast on SNL. The engagement happened earlier this year, the week Lin-Manuel Miranda hosted the sketch show, and O’Malley’s romantic plan was blown from the start: “I got home, I had my purse and our mail and all these boxes, and when I walked in the door, our dog had a bow tie on. And I was like, ‘My dog doesn’t wear a bow tie. Where is he going tonight?’”

The whole story is pretty darn cute, probably way cuter than whatever Senator Sanders would have had to say.
