Mindy Kaling can’t stay off TV for too long – months after The Mindy Project series finale, its been announced that Kaling is heading to NBC with her new sitcom, Champions.
Kaling will be producing the project, along with former Mindy Project writer Charlie Grandy. She’ll also occasionally guest star, alongside co-leads Anders Holm – who also appeared on The Mindy Project – and Andy Favreau (The Mick, Aquarius).
Holm will play charming gym owner Vince, with Favreau as his “gorgeous idiot” brother, Michael. The two very bro-y bros have to grow up unexpectedly when Vince’s high school girlfriend, Priya (Kaling) reveals he has a teenage son – and that he has to take care of him from now on.
The Champions pilot went to NBC earlier this year, and the network just announced they’ll be picking up the series, for a first season with a still unknown number of episodes.
