It must suck to be Jay Mohr. I mean after a twenty year career of bit parts in movies and being involved in several failed TV shows (Jeff Foxworthy Show anyone?), you would think Mohr would find himself in a good place. Nope, CBS announced that it would be canceling seven prime time shows, including Gary Unmarried. This has to be a kick in the groin for Mohr. His role of divorcee Gary Brooks netted him two seasons with respectable ratings and even some awards for the series.
To make matters worse, not only does Mohr lose his Gary Unmarried paycheck, CBS announced it will also cancel Ghost Whisperer which had Mohr play a recurring character. This means that in a span of one day Jay Mohr has gotten fired from TWO shows on ONE network, and both shows were actually doing relatively well. Ted McGinley be damned, the modern death nail for any sitcom has one name – Jay Mohr.
Oh and to add insult to injury, rumors have it that CBS is replacing Mohr’s show with one staring Tom Selleck. Meaning in the year 2010 even Tom Selleck can get more work than Jay Mohr.
