Charlie Murphy dead at 57

Comedian Charlie Murphy has died after a bought with Lukemia, he was 57 years old. According to his manager, Murphy passed from the disease Wednesday morning in a NYC hospital where he was undergoing chemotherapy. Murphy’s first credit is probably as the older brother to comedian Eddie Murphy. But he came into his own as a key player in the runaway success of Chappelle’s Show providing some of the show’s most iconic sketches, including “True Hollywood Stories” about his run-ins with both with Prince and Rick James in the 80s. Murphy also co-wrote some of his brother’s movies like Norbit and Vampire in Brooklyn. He also found success on TV with shows like Black Jesus and Are We There Yet? as well as provided some fantastic voice over work in masterful animated show, The Boondocks. Charlie’s wife, Tisha Taylor Murphy, died in 2009 from cervical cancer. They had 2 children together and he had another child from a previous relationship. The entertainment community has come out to pay their respect.
