With three spots left vacant after the exiting of Jay Pharoah, Taran Killam, and Jon Rudnitsky from the cast of Saturday Night Live, it appears two have now been filled. According to our sister site,The Comic’s Comic, comedians Chris Redd and Mikey Day have joined the cast for the 42nd season of the late night sketch series. Let’s get to know the two gentlemen.
Here’s Chris Redd’s Bio
Chris Redd is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer, born in St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Chicago, IL at the age of 8. Considering himself a Chicago Native, he embraced his musical roots and sought to become Chicago’s next great Hip Hop artist. However it was Chicago’s vibrant comedy scene that influenced Chris and called him into comedy.
While performing stand-up around the city, Redd began training with the historic Second City Chicago and iO Theater Chicago. It was with that training that Chris created and produced his own stage production at the well-known Southside Chicago comedy club Jokes & Notes. Chris refined his character and sketch writing while touring with the illustrious Second City and had a brief stint on their E.T.C stage before venturing on to work at NBC on an Untitled Sketch Comedy Pilot.
Chris has worked on projects including the Tina Fey produced ABC Comedy Family Fortune as well as a small recurring role on FOX’S show Empire. The biggest role to date, however, is playing Hunter the Hungry in the Lonely Island movie entitled Popstar: Never stop Never Stopping produced by Judd Apatow. Chris was deemed a New Face in the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal last year and can be seen traveling all over the world with his stand up comedy. Here’s Mikey Day’s Bio
Mikey is a writer and supervising producer on the Cartoon Network sketch comedy series Incredible Crew, which premieres in September. He’s also a correspondent for The Tonight Show and provides voices for Cartoon Network’s animated series Mad. Past series regular roles include: Kath & Kim (NBC), Wild’n Out (MTV), The Underground (Showtime) and Nathan VS. Nurture (NBC pilot). He also co-created the David Blaine Street Magic internet shorts. This spring, he started production on Puppet High (a web series he created with fellow Groundlings Andrew Friedman and Michael Naughton) produced by Broadway Video’s new digitial development wing. Lastly, Mikey’s dream is to play all the babysitters in a remake of The Baby-Sitter’s Club movie.
