Comedians go through “7 Minutes In Purgatory” in Comedy Central series

7 Minutes In Purgatory

What happens when you deny stand-up comedians the benefit of laughter? Ian Abramson, host of 7 Minutes in Purgatory since 2014, finds out when he puts comics alone in the back of a truck to do their act while the audience watches from a different room. The series has now come to Comedy Central.

So far there have been 10 episodes starring comedians Nick Vatterott, Dave Hill, Roy Wood Jr., Aparna Nancherla, Seaton Smith and more. It’s quite a concept and now we get to see the results. We’ll start with episode one where Ian Abramson puts himself through the ringer and the other nine will follow.

As for Ian Abramson, he hails from California where he started stand-up comedy and writing. On to Chicago he went where he studied at The Second City and iO Theatre while still doing stand-up. He’s performed on the Oddball Comedy Festival, co-created a web series for Tom Snyder of Dr. Katz fame, has produced a number of “non-comedy” events, and is a regular contributor for The Onion. Now on to 7 Minutes In Purgatory.
