Comedy streaming app “Laugh.ly” inks deals with Comedy Central, Comedy Dynamics, and others

Laugh RadioWhen we first brought to your attention back in May a new streaming app that was exclusive to comedy, we knew that said app, Laugh.ly, was going all in. And now we can easily say that’s the case.

The comedy streamers have announced content partnerships with all of the leading names and brands in the game including Comedy Central, Comedy Dynamics, Uproar Entertainment, Laughing Hyena, Stand Up! Records, BSeen Media, and MyComedyStore.com. Laugh.ly is the first and only streaming app built from the ground-up for stand-up comedy.

“We’re excited to be partnering with Laugh.ly on their new streaming venture,” said Steve Raizes, SVP, Operations and Strategy, Consumer Products, Viacom Music and Entertainment Group “We’re a strong believer in our comedy portfolio and see this as an excellent way to expand our reach among comedy fans.”

“Comedy Dynamics is honored to be part of Laugh.ly’s launch and we know it’s going to help make comedy exponentially better for artists and comedy fans everywhere,” said Comedy Dynamics president Brian Volk-Weiss.

Limited beta testing is currently underway, you can sign-up here. The app officially launches August 10th and will feature:

– Tens of thousands of stand-up comedy routines from more than 400 leading comics
– The most extensive comedy libraries available, accessed through direct distribution deals with the largest media publishers in comedy as well
as direct relationships with A-list comedians
– First-of-its-kind self-publishing tools providing emerging comedians a platform to upload and publish comedy albums of their own
– An extensible technology built to offer a streaming experience unique for spoken word.

“While Spotify and Pandora have changed the fabric of music streaming, there is a huge untapped opportunity to deliver top-quality, stand-up comedy content to their tens of millions of fans,” said Dave Scott, Founder and CEO of Laugh Radio, the Silicon Valley veteran and former comic. “These partnerships will provide comedy fans with instant access to the most extensive comedic libraries and material from nearly every professional comedian plus some of the top well-known and emerging comedians.”

Users will initially have two primary listening options – ad-supported listening free of charge or a premium service called “Front Row Seating” for $3.99 per month.
