Mike DeStefano, a light of compassion in a dark world, passed away on March 6th, 2011. And just like he predicted in an interview on Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast the December prior, it wasn’t drugs, disease, or his own hand. He had a heart attack and, just like that, we lost a friend.
And now, Stand Up! Records will release his posthumous album which was recorded a mere eight days before his passing. The album is called Puppies & Heroin. “It’s a solid presentation of some of what was on Mike’s mind after his run on Last Comic Standing and before his death. It’s not perfect. We weren’t done sanding it all down when he left us, but we feel it’s a true representation and has all of his spirit” states Dan Schlissel, founder/owner of SUR.
