What do Dave Chappelle, Bradley Cooper, and Lady Gaga have in common?

It sounds like the first line of a bad joke, but comedian Dave Chappelle, musician Lady Gaga, and actor Bradley Cooper really do have something in common — they’re all starring in an upcoming remake of 1937 film A Star Is Born. Presumably encouraged by the success of showbiz musical La La Land, Cooper is making his directorial debut with a reboot of the Technicolor classic, which was co-authored by Dorothy Parker and has already gotten several remakes: a 1957 musical version starring Judy Garland, and a 1976 reinterpretation led by Barbra Streisand. Cooper will play aging star Jackson Maine (formerly played by Kris Kristofferson, James Mason, and Fredric March), who woos rising star Ally (Gaga, reprising the role made famous by Streisand, Garland, and Janet Gaynor). Chappelle will cameo as a new character, Cooper’s friend Noodles. Cooper, Chappelle, and Gaga have been on location in Coachella, California (presumably before the fest named after the town took over), and Gaga is thrilled about it:
A Star Is Born won’t be out til September 18, 2018, but hopefully we’ll get more behind-the-scenes info soon.
