Saturday Night Live just announced some pretty incredible news. Dave Chappelle will be making his Saturday Night Live hosting debut on November 12th. And that’s not all, the musical guest will be A Tribe Called Quest.
So far, the ratings for Season 42 of the sketch series have been up and there is good reason why. The quality of both the writing, performances, and household name hosts and musical guests have been incredible so far. And this weekend will be no different as Benedict Cumberbatch will be at the helm alongside performances by Solange.
Back to Chappelle. Will the announcement of the news one would wonder, why hasn’t this already happened? Why has it taken so long? A good question that will soon become irrelevant in just two weeks. Dave Chappelle’s career started while he was in high school at Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC where he studied theatre arts. At the age of 14, he began performing stand-up comedy in nightclubs. Shortly after graduation, he moved to New York City where he quickly established himself as a major young talent.
Recently, Chappelle contributed special material to the 88th Annual Academy Awards as a writer and appeared in last year’s Chi-Raq from Spike Lee. He’s also been on tour constantly getting back to his roots. Well, this will be a big one. Calendar is marked for November 12th. Will be a can’t miss for sure!
