If there were any silver lining to the unfortunate death of bonafide comedy legend that is Don Rickles yesterday, it would be that he had already finished taping Dinner With Don, the 10-episode AARP series that was announced a few weeks back. It was AARP’s first foray into original programming and had Rickles hanging out for a meal with some Hollywood heavyweights at some of his favorite restaurants in the Los Angeles area.
A teaser for the series was released today and it has some damn gems in it. While Rickles is clearly looking his age, he’s still sharp with the tongue as he tells Zach Galfianakis to address him as, “God.” Gets Paul Rudd to just start insulting himself because he’s trying to beat Rickles to the punch. And tells Amy Poehler just how happy he is to have her on the show.
While there’s still no release date for Dinner With Don. In light of recent events, there’s a chance it will come sooner than later.
