Eric Andre’s NY Comedy Fest show was nothing short of an emotional roller coaster ride, complete with a healthy dose of nudity, yelling, or diarrhea jokes. The night kicked off with three opening acts, all mediocre at best. The rowdy audience became audibly peeved at the prospect of more special guests, only to collectively freak out when both Hannibal Burress AND Chris Rock showed up for surprise, back-to-back drop ins.
Rock ushered in the night’s much anticipated headliner, and Andre did not disappoint. His 40 minute set featured signature self-deprecating, irreverent, “smart-stoner” ramblings. In a tense political climate, the show was refreshingly void of partisan commentary. The most important issue of the night was the venue’s problematic proximity to Times Square, and of course, legalizing ranch.
