High Plains Comedy Festival announced today its final wave of performers for their 2016 Festival. Highlights of the announcement include the addition of more than 50 Denver-based (or previously Denver-based) comedians, along with a sneak peek of the special theme shows, podcasts and showcases that will make up the full schedule.
Tons of hometown favorites are joining the already star-packed bill, including Christie Buchele, Aaron Urist, Nathan Lund and Janae Burris. They, along with previously announced former Denverites like The Grawlix, Troy Walker, Kristin Rand, Chris Charpentier, and Jordan Doll, and national heavy hitters like Bobcat Godthwait, Baron Vaughn and Aparna Nancherla, promise to make High Plains the spotlight on Denver comedy it was designed to be.
The final High Plains schedule will be revealed in the coming weeks, but this announcement includes some of the popular theme shows that are sure to be schedule highlights. National shows like Iron Comic, Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction, The New Negroes, Picture This! and Turnt Up will bring a new dimension to the Festival, and local favorites Mara Wiles & The Funky Brunch, Cartoons & Comedy, Luche Libre & Laughs, The Narrators, Uncalled Four and live podcasts from both Jonah Keri and the These Things Matter crew, round out the special offerings. “We’ve definitely taken High Plains to a new level this year,” says Festival Founder and Executive Director Adam Cayton-Holland. “We’ve packed the line-up with amazing performers and unique shows to give the audience a chance to see people and ideas that they normally wouldn’t in Denver. The whole idea behind the Festival is to expose Denver audiences to as much great comedy as we can pack in a weekend, while also highlighting Denver for the performers, industry and media who come in for it—and this year, I think we’re doing just that.”
Cayton-Holland promises more surprises to come when the final schedule is released and individual show tickets go on sale in early August. The 4th Annual High Plains Comedy Festival is presented by truTV and will take place August 25th through 27th, at venues on South Broadway and Paramount Theatre in Denver.
