Filmmaker and occasional comic Judd Apatow has his hands in just about every hit production out there – Netflix’s Love, HBO’s Crashing, Chris Gethard’s Career Suicide. But way back in the day, he got his start soliciting interviews from legendary comics like Jerry Seinfeld and Mel Books, his enthusiasm for their craft shining through in his meticulously researched questioning.
Last year, Apatow released Sick in the Head: Conversations About Life and Comedy, a compilation of interviews spanning several decades, from his early years as a teen reporter chasing down acts like Roseanne and Harold Ramis to more recent conversations with colleagues like Louis CK and Chris Rock.
And later this year, he’ll be publishing a companion volume, Sicker in the Head, filled with even more interviews and stories from Apatow’s career.
Sicker in the Head, out via Random House Publishers, doesn’t have an official release date yet, but according to The Hollywood Reporter it’ll include interviews with Whitney Cummings, Kevin Hart, and Norman Lear, among others.
