Larry Wilmore tells Viceland’s Desus and Mero what it’s like to be black on TV in 2017

Former host of Comedy Central’s Nightly Show, and currently host of podcast Black on the Air, Larry Wilmore visited Viceland talk show hosts Desus and Mero recently, and the extended interview is now available in video form.

Wilmore sat down with the millennial late night hosts to share behind-the-scenes stories from his 2016 White House Correspondents Dinner address, and to explain why he’s legitimately terrified of Donald Trump.

The trio also get into a thoughtful discussion on how black culture is portrayed on TV, and how the TV industry is experienced by black entertainers; a longtime performer in the political comedy sphere, Wilmore’s uniquely equipped to give insight on how onscreen diversity is evolving, and it’s a fascinating conversation to eavesdrop on.
