Yesterday, Netflix announced two new Louis C.K. specials; earlier, they revealed plans to tape six new specials in LA next week (with Nikki Glaser, Beth Stelling, Deon Cole, Dan Soder, Fortune Feimster, and Nate Bargatze).
It seems that’s just the beginning of Netflix’s 2017 original comedy programming, because the streaming network just announced the four new special releases for the month of March:
Amy Schumer The Leather Special (March 7th)
Jim Norton Mouthful of Shame (March 14th)
Felipe Neto My Life Makes No Sense (March 24th)
Jo Koy Live From Seattle (March 28th)
For the past year, Netflix has been positioning itself as the leading producer of original stand-up specials, from scoring deals with huge, hard-to-get stars (like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock) to serving as launchpad for fast-rising ones (like John Mulaney and Cristela Alonzo). It’s no coincidence that the quality and volume of Netflix’s comedy offerings experienced a huge uptick last year, when they hired Just for Laughs booker Robbie Praw to oversee original comedy programming.
