Legendary, universally beloved comic actor Robin Williams passed away nearly three years ago, but we still have one more unreleased film of his to look forward to: Absolutely Anything, a slapstick British comedy, which hits theaters later this month.
Absolutely Anything wrapped shooting just three weeks before Williams’ death, a suicide that shook the world – after decades spent making people laugh with movies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning Vietnam, and Patch Adams, losing Williams was a blow to millions who grew up on his family-friendly films.
And in Absolutely Anything, he’s giving one last crowd-pleaser. Co-starring Shaun of the Dead star Simon Pegg, with Williams voicing his faithful canine sidekick, the story comes from a script written by esteemed Monty Python alums Terry Jones and Gavin Scott 20 years ago. The story is pretty bonkers: when meek teacher Pegg meets a gang of aliens who grant him the power to “conjure absolutely anything” – and who give his dog the power to speak – things get, predictably, pretty crazy.
Jones also directed Absolutely Anything, so of course there are cameos from fellow Python cast members Michael Palin, Eric Idle, and John Cleese.
Absolutely Anything hits U.S. theaters on May 13th.
