Stand-up comedian Ron Funches has been living every late-00s teen girls dream recently: he appears opposite High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens in new NBC sitcom Powerless, and now, he’s signed on to voice a character in Maker Studios’ new show, Highly Gifted, opposite pop singer Ke$ha.
Another former Nickelodeon icon, Drake Bell (Drake & Josh), rounds out the cast. The animated series comes from the Lehrer Boys – brothers Daniel and Jeremy – who are cartoonists and survivors of “highly gifted” schools whose unique culture inspired the backdrop for this project.
Funches is set to voice Jerry, basketball star and closet nerd, while Ke$ha will play activist Tess, and Bell will play helpful BFF Alan.
