Roy Wood Jr. teaches “The Daily Show” viewers all about Black Twitter

On last night’s Daily Show, correspondent / comedian Roy Wood Jr. led another excellent installment of Black Eye on America, and this time, he gave an overview of Black Twitter.

Wood compares social media conversation to more traditional barbershop hangs, and consults with avid Tweeters Jamilah Lemieux and Elon James White to hear more on how the black community uses and is represented online.

Lemiuex notes that people of color have traditionally been very active and participant on social media platforms, which Wood aptly summarizes: “Think of Black Twitter as Harlem. Black folks made it cool, and now white folks are trying to move in.”

Of course, the segment wouldn’t be complete without a little speculation on what MLK’s social media might have looked like — take a second to imagine that, then see what Wood and co. think, above.
