The look on Simon Cowell’s face when gargantuan sad clown Puddles Pity Party walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage was absolutely priceless — he seemed skeptical, to say the least, but by the end of Puddles’ exquisite rendition of Sia’s “Chandelier,” Cowell (and the entire audience) were on board the Pity Party train.
Comedy superfans have been following Puddles for years, though; the Atlanta-based performance artist has appeared at festivals like Just for Laughs, Edinburgh Fringe, Moontower, and many more, with his trademark blend of depressing stage banter and soulful renditions of pop songs somehow melding into a completely unforgettable — and somehow hilarious — stage show.
The AGT judges seem to agree, because Puddles made it to the talent competition’s next round.
