Sam Kinison’s last recorded performance headed to SiriusXM

SiriusXM will exclusively premiere the rare last recorded performance from Sam Kinison. Taken from a poor-quality amateur recording of a Kinison performance just days before his death, the audio has been extensively enhanced and is now available as a window to an artist at the height of his craft and fame.

Immediately preceding the airing of the special, SiriusXM Comedy Greats will also feature an exclusively-produced audio documentary about Sam Kinison’s career and legacy, hosted by SiriusXM’s Ron Bennington. The documentary will include interviews with Louie Anderson, Andrew Dice Clay, Josh Gad, Kevin Hart, Carl LaBove, Marc Maron and Jackie Martling, as well as others.

“Sam Kinison was one of the most influential and distinct voices in comedy, and was taken from us far too soon. This stand up special and documentary will give fans new insight on the legendary comic, and is a great jumping-off point for those who were less familiar with his inimitable brand of humor,” said Jack Vaughn, Senior Vice President, Comedy Programming, SiriusXM

The Kinison program is second in a series of legendary comedian specials SiriusXM is creating. Earlier this year, SiriusXM produced a documentary and released a never-before-heard extended performance from Bill Hicks, and is uncovering long lost material and producing insightful features on the world’s most important comics.

The SiriusXM special airs in advance of the retail release of the Sam Kinison The Definitive Comedy Collection box set (Comedy Dynamics) in September.

The special will air on Friday, August 12th at 3:00 pm ET on SiriusXM’s Comedy Greats, channel 94, and through the SiriusXM App on smartphones and other connected devices, and online.
