Based on Los Angeles-based live show The Goddamn Comedy Jam (hosted by comic Josh Adam Meyers and band Elemenopy, it’s appeared at festivals including Just for Laughs Montreal and Bonnaroo), The Comedy Jam welcomes comedians who tell stories about their favorite songs —then sing them, live, with a killer backing band and, usually, a very special guest or two.
In the long-awaited trailer for The Comedy Jam’s first season, see Jim Breuer rock out with Judas Priest’s Rob Halford, Jay Pharoah rapping with the one and only DMX, Tiffany Haddish’s amazing Tina Turner vibes, and Big Jay Oakerson in full Hot Topic drag – and that’s just the tiniest taste of what goes down in the show’s eight episodes.
Expect stories from comics like Chris Hardwick, Bobby Lee, and Hasan Minhaj, but also stars like Taryn Manning, Mark Duplass, Awkwafina, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson; the musical guests are huge and, in some cases, better left as surprises (for example, can you name the comic who used to be in a band with most of Creed?) – but the list includes giants like Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora, Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington, and Wayne’s World’s Tia Carrere.
