Lenny Bruce is being honored at Brandeis University. Just today the university held an opening ceremony for an exhibit dedicated to the life and writing of the highly influential comedian. The exhibit, called, Comedy and the Constitution: The Legacy of Lenny Bruce was opened by a ribbon cutting with his daughter Kitty Bruce on hand.
Kitty stated that, her father would be thrilled to see his legacy preserved not for the hipsters but the nerds. Because as we know from the famous Bruce quote, “There’s nothing sadder than an aging hipster.” The exhibit opened with a two-day academic conference that, as one might tell from the exhibit’s title, is about how the latter part of his career was saddled by lawsuits over obscenity and free speech.
The exhibit is free and open to the public and runs through the end of the academic year. Hopefully it will influence more people how to talk dirty and influence people.
