Carmichael Show star / stand-up / Tina Turner doppekganger Tiffany Haddish has been cast in Tracy Morgan’s latest project, a still-untitled sitcom from TBS.
The show follows Tray (Morgan), a man “released on good behavior from a 15-year prison stint and must assimilate into a society that has changed radically.” Sounds like the perfect role for Morgan, who’s great at playing wide-eyed, excited man-children.
Haddish will play Tray’s ex, who he broke up with while in prison; when they were together, she was a streetwise tough girl, but upon his release, Tray’s surprised to find her married –to a white guy! – and loving her suburban life.
It sounds like Haddish will be staying on at The Carmichael Show, too.
Relatedly, Tracy Morgan’s new Netflix special, Staying Alive, is out later this summer.
