Notorious Broadway lover James Corden has debuted another hit musical segment on The Late Late Show – no, it’s not another installment of his award-winning “Carpool Karaoke” series, it’s something much more ambitious: an entire musical.
In the spirit of current hit Matilda: The Musical, Corden and his writers have imagineered their very own version, Donald: The Musical. It’s like our generation’s own, much more depressing Hamilton!
Corden debuted a number from Donald, a take on Matilda hit “When I Grow Up.” And who better to perform it than IRL Broadway stars Abigail Spencer (Timeless), Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen), and Tim Minchin (stand-up comic, Groundhog Day composer)?
In the clip, Spencer plays Kellyanne Conway, Platt plays Sean Spicer, Minchin stars as Trump, and Corden takes on Steve Bannon.
Watch the whole song, in which younger versions of our current leaders dream about what they’ll do when they grow up, above.
