Video editor / unlikely political commentator Vic Berger is back with another current events mash-up. This time, the Super Deluxe contributor put his signature, trippy spin on Trump’s recent press conference.
Since the height of 2016 campaign season, Berger has been releasing political “coverage” that is, on the surface, a sort of Tim and Eric-inspired bizarrification of the news – but is also, in fact, artfully exact in its seemingly random choices, using editing gags to heighten punchlines and hit targets.
These political videos – which included a series of emoji-filled Sad Jeb clips – went so viral, Berger was profiled by CNN, Wired, and The New Yorker.
His latest – titled “Trump is a Mess at His Press Conference” – helpfully includes the small handful of things separating our current reality from an Idiocracy outtake: official White House airhorns, Snapchat-y filters, spooky sound effects, and flashes of attention-grabbing neon.
It’s surreal – but no more than the real thing.
