Viceland’s latest comedy-centric show premiered last night, and you can stream the first full episode right now.
Funny How?, a week-long miniseries hosted by comedy historian Kliph Nesteroff, takes an in-depth look at “the broad themes of the profession,” from tackling taboo topics to exploring fringe scenes — like the first episode, “For The Love of God,” does by diving into the largely unexplored world of Christian comedy.
In the below clip, Nesteroff gives a quick lesson on OG Christian comic Mike Warnke, who fell from public grace when his fascinating backstory turned out to be fake.
Nesteroff – author of The Comedians: Drunks, Thieves, Scoundrels, and the History of American Comedy, and host of the podcast Classic Showbiz – is joined by comedy greats like Dave Attell, Mike Birbiglia, Rhea Butcher, Cameron Esposito, and Pete Holmes as he illuminates other oft-underlooked topics in comedy. Funny How? will be airing new installments all week.
The first full episode of Funny How? is streaming for free now over on Viceland’s site.
