This week on TV the premieres keep coming. Four new shows to be exact as well as a new special from Pete Davidson and PBS is set to showcase their very own in Bill Murray: The Mark Twain Prize. And finally, two shows are back. It’s a big week with plenty of “can’t miss.”
First up, Matt LeBlanc joins his fellow Friends alum Matthew Perry (The Odd Couple) in the CBS Monday lineup with his first broadcast sitcom gig since Joey ended in 2006. LeBlanc plays a contractor who must take on a more active parenting role when his wife goes back to work for the first time in 13 years. The new series, Man With a Plan, comes from the married writing duo of Jeff and Jackie Filgo (That ’70s Show).
Now skip to Wednesday when truTV launches their latest original series venture Jon Glaser Loves Gear. Glaser is back and, well, he loves gear. John Hodgman also stars, while guests include Janeane Garofalo and John Early. Two back-to-back episodes will kick things off. For more on the series, check out our feature and first-look right here.
Thursday is a triple dip thanks to the CBS Network. The first is the series premiere of The Great Indoors. For his first sitcom role since Community, Joel McHale plays an experienced adventure reporter who, after being sidelined by an injury, suddenly finds himself in his magazine’s digital/social media department, where he must manage a group of millennials—a group that includes Christopher Mintz-Plasse. (Stephen Fry will play McHale’s boss.) The multi-camera comedy comes from Tosh.0 creator Mike Gibbons.
Then, get ready for the return of both Life In Pieces and Mom. Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman guest in the opener of the former while William Fichtner joins the latter as a regular. Rosie O’Donnell guests in the premiere.
This Friday, it’s time to celebrate the achievements of the comedic trailblazer, Bill Murray, the 19th recipient of the humor award known as The Mark Twain Prize. Be sure to tune into PBS for all things Murray who has been crashing the White House recently and enjoying his Cubs baseball.
Also on Friday, HBO sees the return of Tracy Ullman with Tracey Ullman’s Show. The Six-episode sketch series has already aired in the UK, however, now the US has its hands on it to enjoy.Tracey Ullman’s Show has already been renewed for a 2nd season in the UK.
IFC then gets into the mix heading into the weekend with the return and final season of Comedy Bang! Bang! The last 10 episodes of the series will air over the next five weeks, with back-to-back new shows each Friday (except Thanksgiving weekend).
There is no new episode of Saturday Night Live this week but that won’t stop you from getting your SNL because this Saturday, Pete Davidson has a new special on Comedy Central. In Pete Davidson: SMD, the comedian reveals the quickest way to ruin his day, explains why he’s trying to smoke less weed, and recalls his experiences at a Justin Bieber concert.
