This Week on TV: Neal Brennan’s “3 Mics” premieres on Netflix

This week on TV we get a few new specials, some comedy television hits return, and some potential new ones debut. Let’s take a deeper look shall we.

On Monday, Howie Mandel All-Star Comedy Gala premieres on The CW. Hosted by Howie Mandel, the special features performances by some of today’s top comedians. Recorded at the world’s biggest comedy event, the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the special features stand-up performances by Jay Pharoah, Iliza Shlesinger, Russell Peters and JB Smoove, as well as many others.

On Tuesday, we get three premieres. First is the new Netflix special Neal Brennan: 3 Mics. Wicked one-liners and soul-baring confessions converge in this uniquely intimate stand-up special from Brennan. Then we get a double dip from TV Land with the return of Teachers and the premiere of Throwing Shade. The former sees six elementary school teachers try to mold young minds, even though their own lives aren’t really together. And the latter sees Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi host a late-night series from Funny or Die based on their hit podcast, bringing their unique perspective on everything from politics to the latest pop culture nonsense.

On Thursday, Baskets returns for its second season. The journey continues on FX.

On Friday, Take the 10 premieres on Netflix. Two friends who are extremely prone to antics and hijinks obtain tickets to a music festival by questionable means. Naturally, everything goes according to plan and they have a totally normal time that definitely doesn’t involve drugs, sex, and Andy Samberg.

On Saturday, Felicity Jones and musical guest Sturgill Simpson take over Saturday Night Live.
