This week on TV: Norm MacDonald and Mark Normand both drop new stand-up specials on us

Norm Macdonald / Mark Normand

Tuesday is a big day for stand-up comedy fans as Norm Macdonald releases his first stand-up special in a long time. Norm might be one of the funniest people walking the earth and it’s been a solid 6 years since he last released a stand-up comedy special. Of course Norm has been busy since then, launching a TV show, podcast, writing a book, and performing around the country. But his latest Netflix special, Hitler’s Dog, Gossip & Trickery will give us an hour of full, unbridled Norm Macdonald.

Then, on Friday night at 12 midnight, Mark Normand’s first hour special, will premiere on Comedy Central. Normand’s comedy album, Still Got It was one of our favorite comedy albums of 2014 and the comedian has been putting in some hard core comedy work in the 3 years since. He started a wildly popular podcast with Joe List, taped a Comedy Central half hour, hit festivals, tour the nation extensively as a headliner, opened for Louis C.K. and been a longtime opening act for Amy Schumer. In fact, his special, Don’t Be Yourself is being presented by Schumer, only to give him that extra recognition as a terrific comedian on the rise.

Then, if you haven’t had your comedy fill by the weekend, catch Melissa McCarthy hosting Saturday Night Live and catch Amy Schumer’s new film Snatched as it hits theaters.
