Seniors graduating as part of the University of Southern California’s 134th annual commencement got a very special treat last week: a speech from the one and only Will Ferrell, who dispensed some vital life advice before closing on a heartfelt note.
The actor and businessman – who’s the co-founder of comedy network Funny or Die – returned to his alma mater to deliver a slightly self-deprecating speech, comparing his own on-screen “achievements” to the scientific discoveries and cultural contributions of past alums.
Ferrell’s lucky he’s funny – turns out he earned a degree in Sports Information from the university back in 1990 (the program doesn’t exist anymore, and we have no clue what it could have entailed, either).
Before leaving the seniors to celebrate their entry into the real world, Ferrell had one last reassuring thing to say: “I will always love you,” he promised, belting out the Whitney Houston hit before taking a bow.
