Jason Sudeikis won both the award and the internet at the Golden Globes

Last night’s Golden Globes had more highs and lows than it normally would. A lot of this can be attributed to the nature of hosting an award show in 2021. But, above all else, the thing that stole the show and captured the internet’s imagination was Jason Sudeikis.

Sudeikis was accepting the award for Best Actor in a TV Comedy for his work on Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso. The win was a genuine surprise, as Eugene Levy had been the favorite to win coming off of all the Schitt’s Creek love of last year. And nobody seemed more surprised than Sudeikis. Complete in a tie-dye hoodie, Sudeikis issued an acceptance speech that could best be described as sort of being all over the place. Because when was the last time you remember a celebrity talking about reading their 6 year-old son Tolstoy during their acceptance speech? All while Don Cheadle is telling you to wrap it up.

As you can imagine, social media quickly latched onto it. Immediately, people were fascinated with his hoodie, and we have no doubt that the hoodie will have replicas on Etsy by the end of the day. The question remains: Was he high? Or was he just genuinely surprised? Regardless, Sudeikis, his hoodie, and his questionable sobriety became what everyone was talking about.
