Ryan Reynolds looking to expand his sports mogul empire

It seems that Ryan Reynolds, the well-established comedy and action actor, has caught the sports bug – although probably not quite in the way most of us can relate to. Reynolds has announced his plan to buy the Canadian hockey team the Ottawa Senators. If this plan were to go through, it would be the the second sports team he has bought.

Reynolds already owns the Welsh soccer team Wrexham AFC alongside actor and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia creator Rob McElhenney. It seems that in this case, Reynolds is hoping to invest in something a little closer to home. Reynolds was born in Canada and has previously lived near the city of Ottawa.

His previous purchase has been evidently successful. He has been embraced by the football fans there. The whole process of purchasing and operating the team was recorded in a documentary film series called Welcome to Wrexham. The optimistic and good feeling docuseries was recently picked up for a second season at FX.

This whole process may seem like an odd move for the Deadpool star. Reynolds has parlayed the money he has made as one of the top grossing film stars into a separate career as a successful investor. It’s why you’ve likely seen his face pop up in all sorts of creative ways before your YouTube videos in ads for Mint Mobile or Aviation Gin.

It seems his desire to become a sports mogul is growing.
