Trevor Noah sets date for his exit from “The Daily Show”

Trevor Noah has his exit date.

The host of The Daily Show shocked many when he surprisingly announced his departure from the show on September 29th (including Paramount Global boss Chris McCarthy and colleagues). At the time those were the only details known, no final show date, no new host selected.

That is until today it was announced that December 8th will be the host’s final date. Effectively wrapping the year as the show goes on hiatus until January 17th 2023. While the date is now known, the replacement for the South African comedian is still TBD and “additional details” are coming. The decision of who is still tight lipped from the ViacomCBS brass and it’s unsure if when the show returns it will be with with someone they’ve already found, fill-ins from the show’s current correspondents, or perhaps some guest hosts.

The show will host a “celebratory look back at Trevor’s greatest moments” beginning December 5th. Which also means that the show as it currently stands will be in place through Midterms.

“Trevor is an incredible talent who has left an indelible mark on The Daily Show and we’re grateful for his creative partnership over the past seven years,” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO, Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios.

“Chris (McCarthy) has been an amazing leader and partner who has helped me realize my dream of working not just in front of the camera, but also behind the scenes, producing content which now airs across the Paramount family,” said Trevor Noah. “I’m truly excited to see what the future holds.”

It looks like there is more to come.
