In conversation with James Corden, somehow the topic of Fred Armisen’s funeral came up during a recent Late Late Show visit — and you can bet the comic’s got some unconventional plans for his final goodbye.
Where most people plan their funerals as a loving, safe space for friends and family members, Armisen wants to go all out and embrace the morbidity of the event, making it as “horrifying and scary” as possible, set with Halloween-style organ music and a lot of dry ice.
Lucky, Shaun of the Dead director Edgar Wright and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star Tituss Burgess were also visiting Corden, and they were very excited to hear Armisen’s plans; Wright offered (should he outlive Armisen) to direct the event, and Corden himself offered to dress in character as a hunchback-slash-usher.
Armisen’s basically got the exact opposite plans as stand-up Nick Swardson, who famously says he wants his funeral to be as big a party as possible — complete with an upbeat DJ and a visit from his “celebrity best friend,” John Stamos:
