After nearly a year, HBO’s animated Animals is ready to return, with a second ten-episode season premiering March 17th.
Created by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano and produced, in part, by the Duplass brothers, Animals takes a humorous – but also, often, heartbreaking and heartwarming and generally life-affirming – look into the lives of inner-city animals.
The trailer promises returning voices and an amazing lineup of special guests that includes Whoopi Goldberg, Usher, Jason Alexander, Ice-T, Fred Armisen, Emilia Clarke, Tony Hale, RuPaul Charles, Dan Harmon, Michael Rapaport, Kim Gordon, Andy Dick, Killer Mike, Pauly Shore, Big Boi, Jon Lovitz, Rachael Ray, Mark Duplass, Kesha, Big Sean, Andy Richter, Judy Greer, Lauren Lapkus, Michael Pitt, Alex Borstein, Harmony Korine, and Raven-Symone — also, apparently, there’s a Ty Segall concert in there somewhere:
Which makes sense, since Kurt Vile was featured – as a squirrel – in the first season.
Tune into season two to find out what happens when the rats turn an orphaned human child into a Juggalo-faced fighting machime, what post-apocalyptic cockroach wastelands are really like (lots of lifestyle bloggers, apparently), and whether algae can become self-aware.
