Highlighting 4 Specials From Former “SNL” Cast Members

Saturday Night Live has had a lot of alumnus over the last 50 years. The sheer volume of people alone is legendary, not to mention what all of those names went onto produce after they left the show.

Countless great stand-up specials have come out from the show’s alumni over the years. And we wanted to take a look at four specials and albums available through 800 Pound Gorilla Media.

Sasheer Zamata

Sasheer Zamata entertained SNL audiences for four seasons, starting in 2014 before leaving in 2017. She’s since gone onto become a viral sensation and released a special last year, The First Woman. In it, she “mocks companies for awkwardly trying to use feminism to sell their wares. She recounts the difficult task of snitching on a public indecency. And, she analyzes the limited history of witches, airplane pilots, and women in general.” Watch her special here

Luke Null

Comedian Luke Null was on SNL from 2017 until 2018. On his subsequent comedy album, Guitar Comic, by talking about getting fired after one season. He also discusses writing for the show, as well as topics such as long distance relationships, Clay Aiken, soft cheese, and human skin kites. It’s a solid showcase for how Null’s talent could’ve been used further on the show. Check out Luke’s album today.

Gilbert Gottfried

Gilbert Gottfried was on SNL long before he had a chance to develop his now-iconic - albeit loud - voice. Back in 1980, however, he was a young comic from New York plucked from obscurity to replace the legendary original cast. Gottfried was fired that same season, but went onto carve out a name for himself. And in 2006, he released a CD/DVD, Dirty Jokes, featuring some of his signature dirty jokes. If you love a joke machine firing on all cylinders, this will have you crying from laughter, guaranteed. You can purchase his CD here.

Brooks Wheelan

Like Null and Gottfried, Brooks Wheelan was also a single-season cast member from 2013-2014. Since leaving, he’s gone onto make a name for himself as a popular stand-up on the comedy circuit. In his special Alive in Alaska, he talks about his Alaskan experience as well as how he wishes he could smoke weed, not understanding how to order wine, and how Red Lobster holds a special place in his heart. You can check out his special here.
