For the last year or so Ali Wong's special, Baby Cobra has been a highly buzzed about one for the comedian and new mom. It's catapulted her into comedy stardom and really elevated both her profile. Hell, there were even Halloween costumes about her.
Now, Comedy Dynamics announce that it will release Baby Cobra on May 12th as both an album and DVD. Almost a year to the day after it first made its debut on Netflix. The release will include additional content highlighting the making of the special.
Wong, was seven months pregnant during the taping of her one-hour special, delivered sharp, witty jokes about everything from her desire to be a stay-at-home mom, to how she says she "trapped" her Harvard-educated husband and that time she accidentally slept with a homeless man. The hugely popular special originally premiered on Netflix on May 6, 2016, and is considered to be an instant classic.
Wong also announced a new book in 2018 via Random House. The book will be a series of essays to her 1 year old daughter. “Each letter will share advice and personal experiences on such things as finding Mr. Right, leaning in versus lying down, and her journey in stand-up comedy.”
