Two years ago on Mother's Day, Ali Wong's stand-up comedy career skyrocketed. She released her first comedy special for Netflix, Baby Cobra it showed the comedian, then 7 months pregnant with her first child, on stage telling filthy jokes about her sex life as she attempted to keep a life of leisure even though parenthood and responsibility was starring her right in the face. The special went viral, with everyone on the planet talking about it, Wong's career went supernova and she started to sell out theaters overnight. It even made Netflix start to believe that they can have a larger impact on the stand-up comedy community and it pushed them to pay closer attention to comedy.
Now, it's two years later and Wong is attempting to see if lightning can strike the same place twice. On Mother's Day 2018 she will release her second Netflix special, Hard Knock Wife. But that's not all of the similarities, for Wong once again recorded her new special while pregnant with her second child. That's right, two Ali Wong specials, released on Netflix on Mother's Day both filmed while she was on stage pregnant. Talk about Deja Vu.
