In 2000, the stop-motion family comedy hit, Chicken Run, was released by Pathe, Wallace & Gromit animation house Aardman Animations, and Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Animation. Grossing over $200 million at the box office, it was a hit, and over time, has become something of a cult favorite. Netflix is set to debut a sequel to the film on December 15th, with a robust and talented voice cast bringing the new adventure to life.
What’s happening in the long-awaited ‘Chicken Run' sequel?
The film will follow Ginger (Thandiwe Newton), who, after escaping the grips of the nefarious Tweedy farm, is setting up a sanctuary far from human reach. Aided by her love Rocky (Zachary Levi), and just hatched chick Molly (Bella Ramsey), all seems idylic. However, a new threat is emerging to threaten chicken-kind, and it’ll set Ginger and co on a new high-clucking adventure.
Who rounds out the cast in ‘Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget’?
The cast is rounded out by Miranda Richardson, who is returning as the villainous Mrs. Tweedy. The hilarious Peter Serafinowicz makes his debut in the Chicken Run Universe, and is joined by David Bradley, Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, Nick Mohammed, Josie Sedgwick-Davies, Romesh Ranganathan, Jane Horrocks, and Daniel Mays.
