Colin Quinn's next special is headed to CNN

It makes lot of sense for Colin Quinn's next stand-up comedy special to premiere on CNN. Today the network announced that Quinn's wildly popular stage show Red State Blue State will premiere on on CNN on Memorial Day. Quinn ran the show at the Minneta Lane Theater in the West Village of New York earlier this year and is the third of his history-themed one-man shows including Unconstitutional and New York Story. In Red State Blue State Quinn takes on the political divide of our nation.

“We are always looking for new ways to engage our viewers by exploring the issues that are most important to them,” CNN talent and content development EVP Amy Entelis said on the news. “Colin Quinn’s show is a smart political satire that speaks to what is dividing our country.”

The special was directed by the same team that directed the stage play - Bobby Moresco with Tony Hernandez, Brian Stern, Amy Entelis, and Lizzie Fox serving as executive producers.

It's the first actual stand-up comedy special for the news network but they have been playing in the comedy space for the last few years now, inking a deal with comedian W. Kamau Bell for his show United Shades of America and teaming him up with Morgan Spurlock to direct Bell's 2016 special, Semi-Prominent Negro. The network is also 2 seasons into a docu-series, The History Of Comedy that dives into the roots of the art. Red State Blue State airs on CNN Memorial Day (May 27th) at 9pm. Go ahead and ignore the date on the image.
