Shane Torres is gathering steam and he has been for the last few months. The comedian's been spending some time perfecting his act on the road and in various clubs around NYC. We first caught wind of him a few years back at the Just For Laughs festival when he was hosting a show at Katacombes, a dive rock & roll bar. While we didn't realize it at the time, the setting was one of the best places to see Torres for the first time. A lot of his persona embodies that vibe - a bit of an outcast and a square peg - but you love him all the same because he's has way more stories and interesting takes on life because of it.
Today, Torres releases his debut comedy album, Established 1981. It's a hilarious take on the world that the young comedian grew up in, working dead end jobs as he worked to refine his comedy and build a career. The album already spawned a viral hit as the breaks down our probably misguided vitriol for Guy Fieri. The good fortune doesn't end for Torres as he's also part of the 2017 class of comedians that gets Half Hours on Comedy Central. His Half Hour date will premiere on 22nd, but Established 1981 is available now.
Finally, we had Shane Torres on The Laugh Button Podcast as a guest about a year ago before his album was taped and his Half Hour was announced, so we got the chance to dive into his brain about what he wanted his career to look like at the time.
