25 years ago Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam defined urban comedy. The show was a no-holds-barred arena to test the meddle of comedians, practically forging them in fire. But on the other end emerged some of the era's greatest stand-up comedians. The list goes on and one but it includes Chris Rock, Bernie Mac, Dave Chappelle, Martin Lawrence, Steve Harvey, Tracy Morgan, Cedric The Entertainer, Chris Tucker, Kevin Hart, Eddie Griffin, Sommore, Katt Williams, J.B. Smoove, and... well, you get the point.
The series originally ran for 5 years between 1992 and 1997 and was resurrected in the mid 2000, with the 25 year anniversary of the show looming, they brought out all the stops to celebrate the quarterlife of the show, and as you can see from the trailer, everyone came out to the party. Def Comedy Jam 25 premieres on Netflix on September 26th.
