Will Ferrell has been making the rounds to promote his new movie, The House -- a fun summer comedy co-starring Amy Poehler that's in theaters now -- and we can imagine it gets a little boring answering the same interview questions over and over. So, it's no surprise that during Ferrell's recent visit to Conan, he chose to do something a little more...unconventional.

On air, we saw Ferrell conduct his interview with O'Brien in full feline facepaint (which actually suits the tall, curly haired actor quite well), and we also saw him begin to sing the song "Superstar" by The Carpenters. But what TV viewers didn't see was this extended cut, where Ferrell says he's going to perform for a very special 8-year-old fan who just happens to love classic 70s crooners The Carpenters -- and, when he takes the stage, he says: "You know what Conan, I also want to add a caveat to this, I'm going to sing the entire song from beginning to end, so do not interrupt me. If you interrupt me, I'll start again from the beginning."

Then, Ferrell bursts into song, shushing Conan and his crew when they try to motion for him to wrap it up, and taking a mid-chorus break to give a viewer some very intense news before strolling around the set, still singing as the show cuts to commercial -- and as it comes back, and as O'Brien attemps to introduce musical guest Ha Ha Tonka. Ferrell's commitment to the bit is extraordinary, and he finishes up the song as the show fades to black, with only the actor onstage, sitting forlornly on the floor. Definitely a late night appearance for the ages.
