This Sunday, Conan O’Brien will host the 97th Annual Academy Awards. This will be O’Brien’s first time hosting the legendary award show, and we can’t wait to see what he does with it.
Over the course of his career in comedy that has spanned over 30 years, he’s broken countless different comedians by giving them their first shot on a late-night show. So we wanted to highlight four stand-up specials from comics who got their start on TV with Conan.
Marc Maron
Perhaps one of Conan’s most reliable guests. He was a staple of Late Night in its earliest days, going on the show every few months it seemed. They had a really strong rapport over the years, one that continued as Maron became a household name in comedy later on. For more Marc Maron, check out his comedy album Too Real here.
Dana Gould
Like Maron, Dana Gould also got his start with Conan back in the early days, dating back to 1994. He’s since made countless appearances on the show as well. Most recently, though, Gould released his latest stand-up special, Perfectly Normal. Check it out here!
Hari Kondabolu
Hari Kondabolu first made his debut on the late-night show in 2012. The comedian - who broke out with his TruTV documentary The Problem About Apu - has since made numerous other appearances on the show. In 2023, he released his stand-up special, Vacation Baby, which you can find here.
Beth Stelling
Ever since she made her Conan debut in 2012, Beth Stelling has gone onto become one of the most popular comedians touring today. In her debut on the show, she talked about bras, sugar addictions, and the Bachelor. In 2020, O’Brien even produced her debut special, Girl Daddy, which you can purchase the album for here.
