Hasan Minhaj's one-man show Homecoming King started off in NYC as the comedian worked out the show, polishing and refining it. He even made a stop on our podcast to talk about the entire situation. Last fall he took the show on the road. Now it appears Minhaj is going to put a bow on the last year+ of his life with a recording of said special.
Tonight Minhaj will tape the one man show for Netflix in his hometown of Davis, CA. Chris Storer is directing and Rick Famuyiwa is executive producing with Jennie Church-Cooper, Art & Industry, Michelle Caputo and Shannon Hartman.
Homecoming King is based on true event of Minhaj's life growing up first generation as an Indian-American experience. Tracking the comedian's arrival in the US and now having to navigate the two worlds as he dates, encounters racism and bullying, and his family’s journey to achieve the American Dream. There is no word on when Homecoming King will premiere on Netflix.
